Let’s Do Lunch

A “bento” or “bento box” is a Japanese-style lunchbox that is assembled to provide a meal or snacks that offer a variety of tastes, textures, and food groups. It looks a bit like a tackle box with compartments to hold your different food items. The boxes can be made from non-toxic stainless-steel, glass, or molded plastic. Although glass bento boxes are heavier, they don’t absorb smells or stains. Putting together a vegan-friendly bento box can be creative, fun, and original.

You can start with an easy, no-cook vegan bento snack box, filled with healthy and balanced snacks. Colourful mini peppers and cherry tomatoes, cut-up carrot sticks and zucchini, or a handful of mushrooms are great veggies to start with. Toss in some blueberries or blackberries. Make sure they are washed and thoroughly dried before packing. You can add a couple of our Moringa Protein Balls as well. This raw treat is made with premium vegan Belgian chocolate, all-natural peanut butter, coconut, as well as moringa, a superfood whose benefits include it being an anti-inflammatory, a natural stimulant, and a digestive aid. Between the fruits, veggies, and Moringa Protein Balls, your snacks will provide you with plenty of energy throughout the day.

Let SUUP’s Vegan Cheese & Onion Buns find their way into your bento lunchbox. A couple of these hearty pinwheels, when paired with one of our three flavours of vegetable smoothies, is a perfect meal. Not only is it filling, it’s also a taste experience you won’t soon forget!

Another bento lunchbox menu could offer some black-bean tortilla chips, with SUUP’s Lemon Lovers’ Hummus for dipping — a perfect appetizer. The main course could be a whole grain such as quinoa, brown rice, or farro topped with some of our Sweet and Sour Chicken, which uses soy protein and a tasty sauce to create a vegan version of the real thing. When your co-workers and friends see what a fine-looking meal you have, they will definitely want to have a taste!

Leave your traditional lunch bag at home and start using a bento box to create an experience that will be exciting and different every day.
